Having just been on hold and got nowhere with Scottish Power for over 50 minutes, has anybody had recent success writing a letter to them? They've got estimated figures for opening and closing meter readings on our brief time with them. I had an online chat where the operator said they would change the opening reading to the ones I had supplied to SP on opening the account, but said they can only accept closing readings from the new company - Ebico - who are so inept they have passed the gas over but not the electricity. Out of 3 opening and 3 closing readings (I have E7), only one figure is currently correct, the closing gas reading.

The online chat person didn't do what they said they'd do and change the opening reading for the gas, and the electric is just plain wrong.

How can I get through to anybody and retain some semblance of sanity?

Chuck into the mix that the day and night readings for the E7 are the wrong way round and it's beyond anybody to handle.

  • I am trying to query our final bills with Scottish Power after switching to Bulb. Cannot get hold of a human on the phone at all. This may be because they ask for our account number and they are not interested now we have switched. The online chat is not working.

Have waited a good 40 minutes twice over but not got anybody to speak to me. Used the call-back facility and got a call at 9pm but when I picked up I was put back in the interminable queue. Is there life at Scottish Power?

    Hi

It is up to the new supplier to ask the old supplier to change the readings, you will need to get in touch with them and ask them to agree the correct way around. It’s a total pain if in doubt send a letter or an email to them to let them know what you want them to do or you want a letter of deadlock so you can do to the ombudsman. This will normally get you a quick reply and action taken. Put your contact number on the letter or email so they get in touch quickly and ask for written follow up to confirm what was discussed.

    Hope this helps :)

Scottish Power is open till late

Try between 9 and 10 pm during the week, seems people don't phone that much then.
  • You could be in for a long time.

Even after I went through to complaints for this energy company after weeks/months of frustration, it transpired their complaints handler works only part time.

After many promised and failed call backs, I'm finally able to refer to the Energy Ombudsman tomorrow. Spent many an hour simply willing this company to pick up, let alone, action anything. I regret the day ever thinking I did the right thing to save and switch to the Scottish Power mob.

Don't believe SP when they say they haven't received the readings from the new supplier. I rang to have a go at my new supplier (thankfully I didn't actually have a go) for not passing them on. They gave me the date, several weeks earlier & also the reference number that it had. Miraculously, when I rang SP back they found them, without me mentioning either reference or date. Seems to me that they just CBA.

Well I used Resolver, and SP finally managed to produce a correct gas bill. However, they had corrected the electricity bill, then have amended it again so it is wrong again. Have paid the gas but not the electric. In the meantime Ebico dont seem to know their !!!! from their elbow and I'm getting nowhere with them also, having also put a complaint in to Resolver.
