First time buyer - house search

Hello all,
This is my first post, although I’ve been house searching for a while.
So far I’ve lost out on a couple of best of finals (partly due to me being too cautious).
Unfortunately there’s been a drop in houses coming onto the market, and I’m wondering how proactive to be about searching.
Do people phone agents every week to check in with them? Does this help?
Is it worth dropping letters around the areas I like?
Thanks for your help :-)

Keeping in touch with the agents on the phone is certainly not a bad thing. it shows you are ready to roll - and agents get paid on results.
If you are an FTB make sure you have a solicitor / conveyancer on stand by so when making an offer you can explain that you have already got someone instructed / cleared. You can do that now.
Get your finances in order so you can show when making an offer that you can proceed; but most of all - make sure you appear keen. The agents want someone that is going to go ahead.
Agents will be valuing property that might not even make it onto rightmove if you get in there first.0 -
Thanks for the advice, I’ve got a solicitor and surveyor lined up from recommendations so ready to go when I find the right one!
I’ll start making more regular contact with estate agents.0 -
Good luck! Something will come up that's right for you eventually, but the more work you put in, the sooner that's likely to be.0
