TalkTalk landline minimum contract?

I just had a nasty thought. Six months ago I already had voice calls with Talk Talk but I then decided to take the line rental to them as well to simplify things, plus pay monthly, etc. I am now moving house in a couple of weeks and about to cancel TalkTalk service and go with PlusNet at my new house.
Is there a minimum contract for TalkTalk line rental, and are they going to sting me with it??

Its a 12 month contract subject to a cancellation fee of up £70.
Yes their no doubt try. But if you had asked them to move service they would have probaly told you to go back to BT take out a new contract then return to them. So if they raise a charge i would challenge it.0 -
:T Glad to say they didn't charge me anything "as a good will gesture". Made my day, considering I'm paying PlusNet £105 to connect my phone at the new house :rolleyes:0

Made my day, considering I'm paying PlusNet £105 to connect my phone at the new house :rolleyes:Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Were you aware Plusnet charge for these features which are virtually free with BT. Plus of course they can block access to the likes of 18185.
1571 Voicemail - £1.00 per month
Never miss another call with our advanced answer phone style service. Caller Display - £1.50 per month
See who is calling with Caller Display (needs a suitable telephone handset).0 -
Hi both
Yes I'm aware of the half price offer and the charges for features. I went for PlusNet because:
1. Cost - difference between BT half price connection and PlusNet connection is £42.50. You get free calls between PlusNet customers anytime and I speak to my dad a lot daytimes for work - he'll shortly have a PlusNet landline. My other daytime calls don't warrant a full anytime package. As BT would lock me in for 18 months for half price connection it means I only need to speak to dad for around £2.50 a month over 18 months to make up the higher PlusNet connection charge.
2. I'd rather be able to talk to PlusNet about phone issues any day of the week - I can actually usually get through to a Sheffield based human being fairly quickly. Website customer service is also great so don't often need to call anyway - just raise a ticket online.
3. Get simultaneous reprovide of line and broadband at new premise by going with PlusNet - no downtime. Yes I know guys, I may be naive here.
4. Yes call feature charges are higher for PlusNet but I don't use many and line rental for evening and weekend package is cheaper than BT at £9.99
So, not a lot in it for me really, but I like PlusNet as a company so why not get what you want, maybe for a few pennies more. Cheapest is not always best. Anyway that's my view.0
