Central heating oil tank base

We've to get a new one, chosen a bunded model, got all the positioning OK, to fit in with recommended location of it.
Want to stand it on concrete paving slabs, as we've loads in the garden, that aren't going to stay! I've already lifted them, layed a hardcore base & going to put a couple inches sand down, then the slabs. They are 2'' thick 2ftx2ft, solid ones, not just decrotive type.
This will save mixing a load of concrete, as well as not having to give away/skip the slabs.
Has anyone else done this, or am I being too moneysaving & should just do the concrete traditional method.
Thanks in advance!

That's exactly how we made ours at the beginning of the year and it's been alright so far.0

I've had a tank fitted on a similar base that was fine. They laid the slabs on a dry mortar mix rather than just sand. Moisture in the air sets the mortar and it is much easier to lay and level the slabs on dry mix.0
