John Lewis Washing Machine in guarantee

Hi all, our broken John Lewis washing machine is 22 month old so well within the 3 year guarantee. They have now sent 2 engineers to fix without them even touching it and now have offered us a replacement machine. Problem is we have been without a machine for 26 days!!! We were promised the new machine yesterday and it failed to turn up. Its cost us a fortune in launderettes, time off work and we feel like we're being ignored. Can we ask for our money back and go elsewhere? Can we ask for compensation??

You can ask for your money back but they're not obliged to give it to you and if they wanted to, they can make a deduction for the 22 months of use you've had from the machine. Take the replacement.
You can ask for compensation and if you are able to itemise your costs and show that you've minimised them, JL may make an offer of some sort but again, they're not obliged to do so unless the terms of their warranty specifically state that you can pass on the costs of laundry in the event of extended periods of failure.0
