Desperate request for a sub forum to discuss house prices

Over the last few weeks I have seen this forum bombarded with various threads about HPC\HPI through these discussions may be interesting and provide an excellent forum for a debate. I feel they're over whelming the forum and diluting threads with posters who are seeking advice in other matters.
Some people post gunine questions seeking advice on various issues or concerns relating to their specific problem. However they're being patronised and having views enforced upon them about HPC. I even see some poster defending them selves when starting a thread i.e I'm buying and don't care about HPC\HPI as i'm buying a home not a investment.
Many of the members are just submitting the same response on every thread regardless of the advice people are seeking.
My second concern is the number of HPI\HPC threads. Many times throughout the day I try to swift through threads to seek threads where people are actually wanting help or seeking advice.
I know there was a sticky put on to discuss HPC but this simply isn’t enough as it’s far too broad. Also it isn’t very practical to have a real debated discussion on a thread with 100’s of responses.
SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE.

Yes this is definitely needed this forum is becoming over whelmed by HPC\HPI threadsThe problem is that most people want to spread the message of doom, gloom and fear, but a measges posted on here doesn't make a blind bit of difference, the real damage is done by the media.
But 80% of the house owning population aren't interested in short term movements in the market, they're home owners 1st and foremost.0 -

Disagree entirely. A correction is cause for long-term optimism. Those that repeatedly trudge out "doom and gloom" really do themselves and their cause no favours. You should also remember that the media played a large part of getting us into this mess in the first place.
And I'm sure a large proportion of the home-owning/mortgaged population didn't share the sentiment you speak of when the market had been rising well into double digits. It's seems that only now that they've realised that equity isn't 'free' money, up-sizing and moving costs are considerably more expensive and they generally haven't gained anything at all.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. No I think its fine and works perfectlyOver the last few weeks I have seen this forum bombarded with various threads about HPC through these discussions may be interesting and provide an excellent forum for a debate. I don't feel the forum is being overwhelmed by HPC threads at all. There are usually a couple of discussions on the go to do with HPC; the others are about other matters relevant to these particular boards. People obviously want to discuss this matter and it is of concern to them. The subject of HPC is surely of key importance on these boards.
If you don't want to read threads on this subject, why don't you just ignore them?0 -

To be fair most of those 80% probably aren't on this forum either... But given its name it's a good bet buyers and sellers are (and both of those parties have a interest in what's happening to prices in the short to medium term).
I don't see doom, gloom and fear - but mostly individuals asking for advice and others given their considered opinion. In the end - most of us are adults - so it's up to us to take any advice with a pinch of salt (or not).
The real doom and gloom merchants are those urging people to take on scary amounts of debt on the grounds they might somehow miss a house buying boat (which may be undergoing a rebranding to HMS Titanic). Thank goodness there seems to be less of this about than there used to be.0 -
I did a very similar poll with my thoughts on the subject three weeks ago!
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=582940
71 people voted, of whom 77.46% were in favour of dividing this board into three sub-boards, namely:
1) Buying/Selling: Advice on getting the best price for your house sale/purchase, estates agents, solicitors, legal issues, moving, fees, viewings, etc.
2) Renting: Advice for LLs and tenants, etc.
3) Markets: Opinions, discussion and advice on house prices and the current/future state of the housing market etc.
No further comments have been forthcoming from Martin or the mods about the situation. Persoanlly I find it really bizarre that there are separate sub-boards about: Argos; pets; weddings & anniversaries; mobile phones (to name but a few) when house prices, which will potentially save/cost hundreds of thousands of pounds and affect someone's financial situation for many years to come are relegated to a single sticky!“A journey is best measured in friends, not in miles.”
