Green network energy - nightmare

Options
Been on the phone to them for a basic tariff change for over 40 minutes, absolutely nightmare.

I got lumbered with an inadequately trained newbie, who kept putting me on hold for 5 to 10 minutes at a time and couldn't answer any questions.

Then got put to the complaints back, who wasn't too great.

So, I'm due to wait 3 to 5 days for them to get back to me whilst they listen to calls as there's discrepancy.

I live on my own in a one bed flat, barely use any gas electric as I'm out and about and on top floor. Especially electricity.

While I wait, this is the situation ;

Joined them march 2017 from sse on a fixed contract, I think paying 30 something a month for gas electric.

March 2018, it expires, I forget to renew and it goes to standard variable 1, which is 49 a month I think

I submit my readings last week for the first time since joining and I'm told they roughly match the average projection.

They were 7891 m3, 36851 kwh

Guy I first spoke to said my annual gas consumption is 6065, electricity 3100. Said the best for me is green energy family something tarrif at 36/month

Clueless lady said its another green network energy family something at 30/month

Complaints guy I spoke to said it's gas 6062, 746 elec. He said my best is green network energy green 25 at 103 a month or Italian at 102 a month

He said he needs to listen to the calls to see what was said

Latest from my bill :
£218/yr electricity projection, 746kwh

£341/yr gas projection, 6062m3

Switching to fixed family v25 will save £103/yr

Any help please :money:

Comments

  • Thinking the complaints guy was CONFUSED because he probably meant I'd SAVE 103/yr if I switched rather than it be 103/month
  • Rather than wait, I called again and spoke to someone who knew what they were saying. I went ahead with renewal rather than call up for the 4th time, knowing I have a 14 day cooling off period if I find something cheaper.

My debit has changed from 49 per month to about 40 on the v25 tariff. My elec use was higher than estimated, and gas was lower.

Gas is about 25/month (estimated 7022), elec is 15/month (estimated 773).

Do you think its a good deal?

You need to take control of your meter readings. Read your meters monthly and submit them via your online account to GNE.

That way you'll see what your actual usage is and be able to use those actual energy consumption figures every year to do a price comparison instead of estimating your usage based on a single reading you have provided them and asking yourself is DD of £x per month a good deal.

And your estimated figures are kwh for both gas and electric. The average for a low user is 8000 kwh for gas, and 2000 kwh for electric, so your electric of 773 kwh is very low!

But even use those figures in a price comparison website and see how much that compares with what GNE have offered you.
  • Yes, like I say I'm a very low user. Do everything on my smartphone, so don't use TV, wireless speaker much etc. Low energy bulbs etc
