Hi I want to replace a rechargable battery in a solar garden ornament.
The instructions say 1xAA NiMh 1.2v 300mAh battery is included.
I have just bought some batteries and they are the same except that they are 1300mAh.
I'm not sure what this means. if I use the new ones will they break my solar lights?

No, it’s just a higher capacity, it wouldn’t do any damage.====0 -
A higher capacity will mean all other things being equal the ornament will work for longer once the battery has charged.
I presume its one of these solar light things that charge up during the day with sunlight and come on after dark?0 -

Yes exactly that.
So, if it lasts longer will it take longer to charge up?
I thought they were all the same. The ones I bought will appapently last for 3 years but a comparison website says 300 charges - which won't even be a year in solar terms.
I think I might be better to go for the number of recharges - some have 1000 - than years.
Thanks for the help. i think I might return the ones I bought and buy from Amazon...they are so much cheaper.

They will probably work fine but there are two possible downsides.
They will take longer to charge, so might be dimmer in winter, but in summer they should be fine and last longer.
If they are not designed for constant discharging recharging they might wear out faster.
I'd just stick them in and see if they are ok. It's not worth worrying about.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
