I have had bank transfer and a Paypal gift as payment for this sort of money. Never had any problems.
Whatever you do get a copy, phone pic for example, of their licence, get a signed sale document, hand written is OK with date and time and report the car as sold ASAP.

Go for cash and get the buyer to meet you at a local branch of your bank. Pay the money into your account then hand over the keys once the bank has accepted the money.

The buyer would be pretty silly to do this because you should always buy the car from the address on the V5C to reduce the chance of the car being cloned, stolen etc.

Personally for this i would ask for payment by bank transfer because it's the easiest option and you don't have the hassle of going to bank branches or paying in the money.
