Hi there, just looking for some advice.
I have just moved out of my rented house (just bought my own, yay!). The tenancy ended 11th April. I did it all properly, emailed and posted my notice 1 month before and all that. Didn't receive an acknowledgement email, call or letter from the lady that I usually contact at the letting agency or anyone from the agency I usually deal with. But I did receive an email, albeit generic from the Agency (Reeds Rains) to say they acknowledge the end of tenancy, here's some information on how to leave the house etc. All good, didn't think much about it at the time as I had got the okay and all that to end the tenancy.
Fast forward to the 11th April when I had to return the keys, I had had no contact from Reeds Rains at all in the previous weeks, end of tenancy info, nothing to do a check out or anything, they didn't do a check in report, so again didn't think it was too odd anyway, I guessed they just didn't do them.
So I then google mapped the agency, as I couldn't remember where exactly it was or how to get there. Google said that the agency was permanently closed! Panic set in for a minute, I then went on their website and also said they were closed down now, and to contact Your Move *town* for any enquiries.
I rang them straight away asking what had gone off, where should I drop my keys off, etc. They said not to worry, i could drop them off there, they are looking after the properties now, I said bit annoying as I had not been informed that they had switched or anything and probably should have been informed. But nevermind, tenancy had ended and I wasn't bothered about it anymore, so I dropped the keys off there, using their drop box as it was after hours by then.
That weekend, I was looking in to how to get my deposit back, looked back through my paperwork/emails and found the one relating to it, held in mydeposits. Read through their FAQ's and all that, said to write to them and ask for the deposit back. I looked at my paperwork and found no address for the landlord, only the Reeds Rains one, which is now gone. So I emailed it instead (which I heard is acceptable anyway) to 2 different email addresses that I have, a general enquiries one, the one that sent the tenancy end confirmation one, both still Reeds Rains, as I have no alternative right now.
I have had no response from them at all, no idea what's happening with the deposit at all. I have found another email on the confirmation letter, and so have sent another request to that, but I have also gone on mydeposits website and opened a dispute as it says I can after 10 days. The paperwork and information they give you though only seems to relate to deposits that are being disputed, not ones from which you get no response at all from.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation and can give me some advice as to what to do next?
My next port of call is most probably going to be contact the supposed new letting agents (Your Move) and see what they say. But I want to get my deposit back asap and can see them not knowing much either.

I was going to, but mydeposits said that I had to contact the landlord/agency to ask for it to be returned, and wait 10 days first. Else I probably would have done.0

I have opened up a dispute with mydeposits, but it is asking for evidence etc to form my complaint. I don't want to go through that bit yet in case they do decide to respond and claim a load of money and I can't then submit any evidence. Can i just leave it on the upload evidence section or do I have to go through that bit and can I add evidence at a later point if they do respond. The mydeposits faq's and other information are really not helpful to my situation and nothing seems to relate to non response.0
