Ripping out an old bathroom - where do you start?!

We've just moved into a do-er upper (the joys of now living in a building site) and the bathroom is a real sh*t show: dark cherry stained wood units, old tiles to the ceiling, yellowing bathtub & an enclosed shower unit that you can't even raise your arms in (I'd say it's like a standing coffin made from tiles with a light dribble).

Where do we start? Tiles off?

Any advice would be appreciated!! :T

Start with what you can easily access. If you have no need of a bathroom, it'll be much easier because you rip everything out and just leave the pipes standing and you don't have to worry about accidentally smashing a sink when a tile falls on it.
Work your way from the outside in, so cupoards, tiles, anything else.
Also, do wear safety glasses, I've cut my face before with flying chips of tile, so would rather not blind myself by not wearing them. Good gloves are also recommended.

Charge all your power tools, fill several thermos flasks & a few buckets then turn off the electricity & water.

Try not to do Anything until you have the full chain of replacement, installation & making good all lined up ready & waiting.

Above all ensure you have access to a loo that works & stays working. Its amazing how much of yourself you can wash in a sink, but that really only needs to be enough not to have the municipal swimming baths refuse you entry.

Absolute respects for not starting over the bank holiday weekend.

I wanted to start it over the bank holiday but I held back thinking if I go in all guns blazing I'm going to end up regretting it. And no one likes to find themselves in desperate toilet situations!!

Thanks for the advice! Wish bathrooms were easier to replace!

Top up your bank balance first as new bathrooms can be expensive.

You can take the tiles off, take out existing sanitary ware but unless you are going to refit and do the work yourself it probably wont make things an awful lot cheaper.
