Tesco CC Tell Lies

I wanted to cancel my Tesco card last november, after having cleared the balance. The rep persuaded me to keep it. Two months ago, following advice from this site, I called up to cancel it. I was told that if I did cancel then I would not be eligable for another RBS card for 9 months. I called up Nat-West today to ask about their RBS card. They informed me that having cancelled the Tesco card would have no affect on my application. I would like one BUT I do not want to risk a credit check, only to find I am rejected because of the Tesco CC. Can anybody offer advice please?

Tesco cannot put anything on your credit file apart from the date you cancelled your card; which will have absolutle no influence on a credit check by another lender.

Even if both cards are RBS?

Here's a radical thought..... apply for the new card before you actually cancel the old one... if your application is accepted you're home & dry - if not, time to look for another or keep the Tesco one you already have.
