O/S Daily Tuesday 23 April 2019

This is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now light, cloudy and overcast, forecast says getting cooler and rain from tomorrow.

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and eating my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Lunch yesterday was a snack, then we had a chicken joint, with LO roasties, LO cauli/broc cheese, LO yorkshires, and I did a pan of mash potato, carrots and gravy, also there was a little roast pork left, so I braised that in gravy in the oven - so no waste. Tonight's dinner will be either fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg something with rice/pasta - not sure yet. Planning hasn't been great due to the holiday weekend and different things so quite pleased to get back to a normal routine.

Back to work today - I expect it to be busy due to being shut for 2 days - we'll see.

Keep safe and well x

    Morning all

The weather started turning early evening yesterday, we were sat outside BBQing in the lovely sunshine, when it suddenly got colder and colder as we put jumpers socks etc on, we came indoors in the end to eat, its meant to start raining today for over a week :(

Back to routine and work today, I would much rather be a lady of leisure but that's not going to happen for a few years yet.

Something with mince for dinner maybe a spag bol not sure I have any spag though, will do pasta if not.

Washing to do tonight and dw to empty and refill.

SO thinking of you and wish I could do something to help xx

    Have good days all xx

Good morning, and thanks NMLC for starting.
It seems to be a nice morning, what a beautiful weekend it's been, not the usual Bank Holiday weather at all.

We were sitting outside as well yesterday, DS2 and family had come over, but we were forced in by late afternoon - still sunny but definitely colder.

Raining for a week Redruby, oh no, I've just got the summer clothes out!!

It'll be the usual Tuesday here, plus we'll have Dgs for a while. We haven't seen him for over a week as they've been staying at the caravan.

Thinking of SO and all of our poorly friends and their relatives.

    Take care folks

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. It's the last day of sunshine for us, with the rain arriving tomorrow. The taste of summer has been nice whilst it lasted!

SILVER-OLDIE it was nice to read last night that the care home people are looking after you and your DH as well as your mum. It sounds a nice place compared to some you hear about.

Back to normal now after the break and, being Tuesday, it's my day for meeting my friend in town for a couple of coffees and then lunch. I am thinking today I may have the broccoli cheese bake again as I have decided that's my favourite dish on the menu we have now worked our way through!

Not a lot planned for when I get home later but the garden may get a final tidy before the rain descends tomorrow.

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of SO, GERS' DM, TAFF, HOLLY and POPPY. Plus the MIA. Take care all xx

  • Morning everyone,

I hope you all enjoyed your Easter weekend sun. I couldn't quite believe how lucky we were to have that weather during all 4 days, it felt like I was on holiday.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Activities included; running outdoors, yoga, a deep clean of the flat, meeting an ex colleague for drinks, going a wander round the city centre and on the whole, eating healthy. It was really nice. It actually gave me the first feeling of what it would be like if I moved abroad, which is an idea that I've considered for a few years. I've got to say, I quite fancied the idea.

For now, it's back to work - although I did come into the office twice during the weekend to keep on top of things. Possibly have boxing tonight although my wrist is a bit sore, so I may skip this week.

In other news, I decided to tell the girl from Liverpool that despite having a good time on our dates, it just wasn't right for me. She actually was very nice about it and thanked me for my honesty and suggested keeping in touch. Kind of feel like it's a load off my mind.

    TA - Enjoy your lunch.
SR & RR - Yep, the same here. Clouds arrived in the afternoon as a sombre reminder that the BH was over!

    Morning :)

Cloudy this morning but apparently warming up later for the last day of the heatwave. What an amazing bank holiday it has felt like a little break abroad. I moved from the shorts and vest top of the last few days to cut offs and t shirt this morning its a staged move ready for the jeans jumper and duffle coat from tomorrow.

Head right back in to work today or rather the lack of it atm. Woke up with a sinking worry this morning instead of the lovely mood of the weekend. No point moaning though so its back on it as much as I can ...tough today as its mum day ...yeah... my nice break really is over

Had a pulled pork sandwich last night with some chips then froze 3 portions of the pork so that has worked out a real bargain. Wont need anything out for tonight but have some sweet pancakes for a comforting pud later.

Bit of top up shopping needed later nothing much though my stock cupboard is serving me well.

Hope everyone has a good day

SO, I'm thinking of you. We had a long vigil with dad, though he was at home, he didn't want to go, whereas mum went quickly because she was ready.

Speky, it sounds like you made the right decision.

Laura and Brian got back from Cornwall last night so we took Ziggy back (sad face), we're really missing her because she has such a sweet, funny nature.

We think the tv is starting to go wrong so Steve has been researching new ones, so now comes the battle not to have an enormous set. I don't know whether to give in now, he doesn't argue but he's very stubborn.

Good morning chums, another nice day by the looks of things here in the Garden of England

Just done my menus for the week and because of the upcoming few days away in bath in a couple of weeks I shall again be running down my fridge stuff:) I seem to be gadding around all over the place at the moment

This morning I have to drop DGS Jack down at the Hempstead Valley shopping centre where he works in the coffee shop whilst he is home from Uni.
He only has today, tomorrow and Thursday, a day off on Friday then I will run him back to Hertfordshire on Saturday

My eldest DGS Danny and his wife Hayley landed in the UK on Sunday for a three week holiday from the USA so I am looking forward to seeing him shortly as well. He and Hayley are taking both myself and Margaret (his other Grandma ) out for the day on the 1st May ,not idea where but its a surprise :)

I will probably nip into Dobbies after dropping Jack off for a coffee, as its U3A coffee morning today and I still have a voucher to use up for April

Quiz night tonight so no cooking for me as I will get a meal there.Tomorrow I have to go to visit an old friend who is housebound, so I am going to sort out some paperbacks to take with me for her.

My sis-in-law in Faversham has just rung and I must sort out a date to try and fit in a visit to her as I haven't seen her since Christmas.I jsu don't know where the time flies by to

Hope the poorlies and sad folk have a better week so <<hugs >> for them

right must fly as time is running away with me again

Take care all and make the most of the sun while we have it

    Cheers JackieO xxx

Morning! Well, today is still sunny here, so a spot more pottering is in order. Didn't ask the OH to do anything, did it myself, and yes, it was a bit tiring [very tiring] but I do feel as if I've done something...One job left, to fill the bed. I've levelled it, removed the worst of the weeds, covered it in cardboard, so now I have to wet the cardboard, and layer it up.
Have hospital appointment today, no idea what for. You can really see on my chest now where the jelly pad sits, because I have square sunburn :)
My mother died five years ago and was buried at Easter, it doesn't seem that long ago to me. We were all there, and she definitely didn't go gently into the good night. And thus I would urge anyone with diabetes to do their best to control it, because the complications are not good, not good at all.

Sounds lie a good, if busy BH was had by most...Gers, did you get to go home for a bit? Nelski, good luck today. My mother was always charming to anyone not family when she was at her worst, can you arrange any surprise shopping interrupting 'meetings'? :) Speky, well, if it wasn't to be then it wasn't to be...Jackie, still going a million miles an hour then!
    Wotcha MIA's.
    Trumpeting Tuesday!
Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...

    Morning all
We still have some sun for today so the WM is on and there is another load waiting it's turn.
Today I have to sort out the debris left from the weekend, including the inside of the fridge as all the leftovers are in there and it's a bit higgledy - piggeldy .
There are emergency chairs, dishes and cutlery to put back in their places, then the spare room to sort out as the DGC are back this afternoon for a sleepover.
I need to put out the bins and all the recycling bags and boxes tonight too, as we are one day behind in collection because of the BH.
Tea tonight will be something easy like egg and chips as I don't think I could stomach any more fancy food :rotfl:. I love all the different meals but they don't necessarily like me _pale_.
Anyway enough of my waffling, I must get on and do something !
Take care all. Hugs to anyone in need.
    nan xx
PS Speky sorry about the girlfriend, I'll put my hat back in it's box ........ for now. I'm sure the right girl for you is still out there.
