Should I buy a house to live separately?

Now I am living with my parents and brother, I am about to get married, my fianc!e wants us to buy a house to live in, so should I buy a house to live alone or with my parents and brother? ?

    No one here can give you an answer, it depends what’s best for you, your family and fianc!.

    What would you prefer, what are your extended families thoughts.

    Home owning is expensive and comes with maintenance etc... my advise would be to do your research and work out what is best for you personally long term.

    There is no right or wrong answer.

    This is an important question, because most of the people answering here live in the UK and may only consider typical UK customs and financial considerations.


    Buying a seperate house might mean spending much of your income in the early years of your marriage and also losing some of the social support of your family. However, if your wife to be comes from a place where setting-up home seperately is usual, then you may need to consider her wishes above those of your parents, if you can afford it.

    "Cultural norms" are a handy excuse. Do what you want to do.

    If your parents and brother think the worse of you for not wanting to spend your married life in the same house as them, that - to me - sounds like a damn good reason for not living with them.
