Reading the OPs posts they received a letter from the buyers solicitor.

The OP states THEY The "Buyers" went through a solicitor.

The OP does not appear to have asked/taken legal advice from their own solicitor?

Op panicked and paid what was asked.

The house was sold. It had been for months. OP did not own it. Op did not have to pay anything.

As someone else has posted there are 100s of thousands, perhaps millions of garages out there with the same roofs posing no risks.

Unless you grind the roofs to powder and then inhale it with your £50 note.

Sorry OP I still believe you have no case here.

Hope you do not succumb to similar in your future property sales.

For future reference... just because a solicitor writes a letter saying you have to pay somebody, it doesn't mean you do.

    Exactly.

A solicitor will write any letter that you want them to for a hundred pounds or so, it doesn't mean that in any way you have a case.
