Household income - divorcing parents

Options
My daughter is due to go to uni this autumn & we are looking at applying for student finance.
Her father and I are currently going through a divorce. I have been a stay-at-home parent for many years & he has emigrated to the US. Pending the divorce & financial settlement, I receive interim maintenance from him for myself and the children but this is our only income and as I am not currently employed I do not pay NI or tax.
Can anyone advise me how the application for my daughter will be assessed in these circumstances? She resides full time with me in the UK and therefore I presume the application will be assessed on my income alone? Or, since we are not yet divorced, will her father need to provide details of his income, which is now paid and taxed in the US?
Thank you for any advice or information anyone can give.

If you are living apart then he won’t be assessed as part of your household income. Student finance may ask for some proof that he has set up home elsewhere.

I was asked to send a copy of my Decree Nisi so they will ask for some sort of evidence.
