If people look fat in widescreen your TV is set up incorrectly.

Yes - i just turn the screen settings from auto-adjust to cine that is why, stops the black bars on the sides of the screen due to 4:3 to but does cut off some sub titles - It cost a £199 from new, so did not expect much from the tv except that it showed a picture :)

    Thanks Though
GOOGLE it before you ask, you'll often save yourself a lot of time. ;)
  • I read that itv and bbc are looking to launch free to air hd in 2008, it was going to be via digital tv like freeview via your tv aerial, and yes you would need yet another special box, but because the analogue signals are not being turned off around the country quick enough they can't launch yet, so they will be via satalite called freesat, the same name as sky's freesat (not hd yet,(I think)), and yes another box called a freesat box, don't bother to rush and buy a sky hd box @£300 and £10 per month extra, hd is coming to a tv near you soon, and not at the cost of an arm and a leg.

Whats wrong with the black bars? no matter what technology you are using if you are watching old 4:3 material the black bars are their to maintain the correct image ratio, and in my opinion dosn't effect the experience as much as melon heads!!! It's normally 99% adverts and old stuff anyway!

@OP please think before parting with that hard earned cash CRT's while bulky are still perfectly acceptable and in many cases better than sub-£1000 flat panels - I really, really don't understand why people buy 90% of the stuff you see in shops tbh it's mostly a 'look i've got a flat screen' attitude I think. If my CRT goes tomorrow I will go out and get another second-hand CRT!
Also exactly what are you going to do with the extra space you free up?

It is such a shame that people shunned HD CRT's as these in my opinion were potentially far superior to flat panel !!!! (ever enjoyed watching DVD on your computer CRT cos it looks damn fine on mine!?) but I guess fashion is more important than quality!
  • I tend to agree with ollyk, I wonder how many people buy their new super thin T.V. then stand it in the carner of the room taking the same space as crt, the only advantage I can see is buying over 32 inch, my son wanted a bigger T.V. in our lounge, so I bought him a £5 pair of binoculars off ebay.
