This is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning everyone

Such lovely weather we are having for the bank holiday weekend, it is certainly welcome and makes me hope that we have finally seen the back of winter and can look forward to a hot summer.

I have now finished radiotherapy and that means I have finally come to the end of active treatment. I’ve got some skin problems and I am totally exhausted and sleeping most of the day away still but on the positive side. I think it is only now really sinking in what has happened to me in just over a year.

I have got about four loads for the washing machine I’ve got one lead in and won’t be any problem getting it line dried. The house needs a good clean through but I’m more inclined to enjoy the weather and do the housework when it isn’t so nice. Unfortunately I don’t feel up to going out for one of my day trips yet, but I’m sure I will later in the Spring/Summer.

SO I’m sorry to read how things are with your mum. It’s good that the staff at the care home sound helpful.

Have a good day everyone, I hope that everyone gets the promised warm weather.
  • Morning folks and thanks SO for starting. Another glorious day in store.

I got home last night after my 5 days at the caravan with DD and the girls but remind me why I thought I would be having a relaxing time!! The book I took never got opened once!

The weather was beautiful every day and I had taken totally the wrong sort of clothes with me as it was chilly when I left. We did the promised trip to Harlow Carr Gardens. I knew it covered a big area but not that big! We had taken a picnic and treat ourselves to some nice "afters" from the Betty's takeaway in the gardens. Yum! We also went to the Pancake House in Pateley as planned. OMG I have never seen such creations before and definitely not for anyone on a diet!

This morning I must do a reshuffle with clothes and swap my summer clothes from the back room wardrobe to my wardrobe. Probably nothing will fit me after the half a stone plus I have put on over the winter.

DS has invited me down to their house this afternoon for a couple of drinks and a bbq in the garden. That'll be nice as my garden is not fit for sitting in after the upset of next door's fence and the ivy thrown everywhere. DS got rid of all the ivy in my absence but it needs a good tidy up and pots rearranging again. Maybe tomorrow!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking especially of TAFF, HOLLY and POPPY with nasty treatments. Take care all xx

    Morning All

Good to hear from you Holly, hope you get some energy soon and can enjoy your days out.
    Hugs to you SO.

Another glorious day beginning here, yesterday was so nice I sat in the garden and read for a couple of hours. All the washing was dried, bedding put back on and I even dusted and hoovered! Just realised I didn't have any sort of heating on at all yesterday, this house is old sandstone and heats up very slowly.

I'm off to see DS1 and the DGC today, I'll stay over and have a day out with them tomorrow, I think we're going to a Deer Park, should be fun! I've a few things to do on the way including a trip to Costco for fuel, it's so much cheaper there and I have to pass on the way. I'll also call into a charity shop in Dunblane that I like to support with a bag of donations - must be strong and not buy any more plates, dishes or bowls!

Hope you all have a good Saturday and can enjoy the sunshine, take care. XX

So sorry about mum SO Sending a big virtual hug x
Holly nice to "see" you posting

Another beautiful day on the books by all accounts. :j Yesterday was just too gorgeous to do anything much but enjoy it. I am a sporting an all over pink colour now despite all the spray. Slightly guilty as did nothing all day but sunbathe and read but I will live with it ...I was working at night mind.

Today may well be similar although I will get everything I need to do this morning then I can be guilt free.

Lamb Koftas and flatbread for grub today

Hope everyone has a great day

    Good morning folks.

Sun is promised again, yesterday we reached 24 degrees. It was glorious.

Today I'm merely delivering a paper to the friend who is going to visit DM. She wasn't too good yesterday, think a cold was developing and her digestion was rather sluggish which always makes her feel rotten. Treatment was administered later on after I left!

Thoughts to all struggling - SO especially.

    Happy Saturday to everyone.

Good morning, it seems to be another nice day here,

Nice to hear from you Holly, glad you've got your treatment over with. Hope you'll soon pick up.

SO, I thought about you and your Mum a lot yesterday, I'm glad that the care home staff are good

Glad you enjoyed your time away TA, I've read about Harlow Carr Gardens, we'll go there one day, I'm sure.

Sorry to hear your Mum is not too well again Gers.

We went to Barnard Castle for the day yesterday, the town was absolutely packed. I felt a bit daft because I had too many clothed on, didn't realise it was going to be that warm!!

Probably be a day at home today, then out tomorrow, or Monday, or even both!!

Thinking of the sad and poorly people.

    Take care folks

We had a hm curry last night so tonight we will bbq I have a selection of things to cook and Ive bought some Jersey Royals which I will par boil and the wrap in foil with butter and garlic and put on the bbq, I will also do some hm coleslaw and tomato and onion salad, OH will cook the meat while I sit back and supervise with a glass of wine !!

Will take the pup out for a walk today and maybe stop and have tea and cake whilst out.

Ive got a few decorating jobs to do this morning, I need to fill the holes from where the skirting boards were taken off and put back and let that go off and then sand it down and repaint, I may do the holes today and then paint tomorrow.

SO sorry to hear your mum is so frail xx

    Have lovely days all xx

TA what happened with your neighbours fence ? I must have missed that post xx
  • REDRUBY I think I mentioned it briefly last weekend but the way it was handled upset me (I am so much more emotional these days since I lost Bob than I used to be) It was a big ugly 6 foot high fence and I grew ivy up it to disguise the ugliness as it was my view from the kitchen window,. While I was out for the day the fence was taken down and the ivy (still attached to its roots) left lying all over my garden. A note had been shoved through my door about it. It upset me. DS came and helped me cut it back, bag it up and take numerous runs to the tip with it. Conifers and high fences seem to cause more bother with neighbours than anything else!

    SO, I'm thinking about you.

TA, I think lots of people have been caught on the hop by the weather, I hadn't taken anything really cool with me to Yorkshire either.

We had a lovely afternoon with Steve's sister and went for a walk with her son and his family and their dog. She is a boisterous Portuguese Water dog and enjoyed racing round with Ziggy - unfortunately she completely bowled over their 4 year old son. We were on the beach and he was unhurt, only upset and telling his mum it was her fault, apparently he has to have someone to blame if something goes wrong.

We had an early dinner and then came home, arriving a 10.45 so we were late to bed after we had eaten a snack and done a few things.
