Freeview Interfering with Sky ...

I have had a Daewoo freeview in my bedroom for a few years now, but I was given a Thomson DT6300, I connected the Thomson up and it works fine, but when the freeview is switched on, the reception on sky goes terrible, it has white lines all the way through the pictures. However the Sky picture is fine when the freeview is switched off.
The freeview is linked up by scart leads to the tv and video.
The sky box is in another room.
I was wondering if any of you clever people would be able to help me sort out the sky picture when the freeview is switched on.
Any help would be much appreciated.

How is your aerial lead connected to the two TVs?
It sounds to me as if their is a conflict between the RF output of the Thompson and the Sky RF output.
If that's the case then its simply a matter of changing the frequency that one of the boxes is transmitting.
But first trace the route of your RF/Aerial cabling, and report back. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
If the sky box is in the other room, can we assume that it's using a separate TV? Also, where is the Thompson in relation to the sky dish? I'm thinking that the PVR is 'noisey' as far as emissions are concerned and either the dish is picking it up or your sky cabling isn't screened very well.

sorry if I did not explain properly.
The sky box is connected to a tv in another room. The thomson box is in a bedroom.
The Thomson box is connected by scart to tv and video and also has RF cable as usual.0 -

Yes the Sky box is in another room.
The Thomson is about 20-25 metres from the sky dish.0 -
I'd disconnect all the leads from the pvr and switch it on. If you still get interference then I'd say you have a noisy pvr and may be able to solve the problem by moving it. You may also have poor screening on your sky feed cable.
If there is no interference with no cables fitted to pvr, fit cables one by one until it comes back and there's your problem. Start with the rf cable.

PS Check your feed cables into sky box are good and tight.0 -
Is the aerial common to both TVs? You might also try removing the aerial from the Sky Box whilst your PVR is on and see if the interference disappears. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I'm 99% sure that penrhyn is right. The boxes RF outputs will be tunes to the same channel. This will give you a 'venitian blind' effect on your TV screen. Change the RF output channel on your freeview box, and see if the problem stops.0
