My pics disappeared from phone 😔

Hi everyone,

Nearly all of my pics have disappeared from my gallery. There are a few left, which is weird, but I had some old pics on there that meant alot to me, and I'm gutted. Also, all my music files have disappeared too. How they can be connected I don't know.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy s6 and it doesn't have a memory card.

My son uploaded my pics onto his computer a couple of years back as I was changing phones, so he said it was ok, but when he looked, they had gone, except for 2 folders. I don't find this logical, as how can just 2 folders be there, but the rest not, but he said they're not so I'm devestated.

I googled it and there were loads of posts from people who had Samsungs saying it had happened to them. The few I've left my son showed me how to back them up with google.

I don't understand what's happened. They're all in 'My Files' but it says it can't open files, they must be deleted, moved, or renamed.

Is there 'anything' I can do? With computers nothing is really deleted even if you delete it, so does this happen with a phone?

Thanks,
Candy.

    One try RECUVA .
Its more difficult to recover from sd / nand memory than a hard drive.

Two check for a folder called Lost Files .
Easy to delete files often via pulling out USB cable .
Forgot to say Nand memory has only xx thousand writes before it dies so backup backup .

Downloaded several recovery apps and they all useless. Each one only brought up the pics that are already on my gallery.

Has anyone any other ideas or info please?

Have you got the Google photo app installed? Or any other app like Dropbox or OneDrive managing your camera roll

You mean for backup? I didn't know you could do that then. My son has now showed me and I've backed up the few that are left. Is that what you meant?

Have you also tried Samsung account? When you first set up phone it is hard these days not to activate a cloud account.

I didn't know how to back anything up, so nothing was. My pics are now, but that doesn't help getting back the missing ones.
