I spent months, possibly years being scared of the post arriving when I was with my ex. God, the tales I could tell about that........
erm..........cheers for the thought about 40 being middle aged........might have to go and spend some money now to cheer myself up!! (only joking

Hi, I just wanted to say well done for getting all that stuff for only £90! imagine how much you would have spent on each item prelightbulb and I bet the total would be a whole lot higher. I want my debts paid off by my fortieth too and should manage with a bit too spare - it is focussing the mind though. I can't believe I'm middle aged though, that's sooo sad!
P.S. you are an inspiration Keren29!Mortgage OP 2025 £7500/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Thanks Skint Spice, yes I guess I did do well for £90 thinking about it.. I forgot to add I bought some pull on knee high boots and Xmas cards and wrapping paper within that amount too.
Pre-LBM I would have spent £90 just on boots . I love Matalan and George!
I am doing an extra shift at work this afternoon which pays £16 an hour overtime so will cover the amount I spent yesterday.
Shall we all agree to push middle age back to 50?
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -

I'll go with that! maybe all this sorting out the money stuff is us actually growing up at last though. I'm determined DS will not be as rubbish with money as I was!:oMortgage OP 2025 £7500/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

Sell your old jeans and boots on Ebay. I've heard well worn clothes can fetch a good price on there

Then you wont feel so guilty at spending £90
Errrr...come back later

Surely no-one would buy raggy jeans and scuffed boots would they? I was going to relegate them to the "gardening or decorating clothes drawer"!Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0

They might, Squirrel - describe them as 'distressed' !
The first time I went shopping after becoming debt free, I couldn't find any jeans in our local shops that weren't more 'distressed' than the ones I was ashamed of!Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)

I agree Skint Spice, my life has been blighted by debt.. what a waste. My DS has some materialistic traits i.e snorts with indignation when I suggested I get him some tracky bottoms from Matalan and he is always asking for sub on pocket money. I have stopped trying to shield my problems from him and want him to realise how awful it all is.Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time :mad:0 -
Jeans are the hardest clothes to buy, it is really hard to get a style that suits your shape. That is why I grabbed two pairs yesterday when they looked half decent. I always seem to end up getting jeans in a size bigger than I normally get and then feel depressed, not only with spending the money but thinking what a fat pig I am.

I'm dreading the teenage rebellion Squirrel - DS will wear just about anything at the moment and isn't at all fussy.
Sounds like you made the right decision with the jeans as you won't end up spending over the odds when you need the second pair.Mortgage OP 2025 £7500/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
