Golf Mk 5 heater issue
My runabout is a 2006 Golf Plus (basically a Mk 5 Golf with a higher roof). Very happy with it, except for the heater/aircon. When I got it, there was no cold air at all. I had the aircon regassed and now on the lowest setting it puts out cold air, but at any other setting (even just moving the dial 1/8 turn) it is putting out hot air. No gradation between warm and hot, just goes straight to hot from cold. (It's the Climatic not Climatronic, i.e. manual aircon not climate control.) Great for winter, but not so good in the better weather. Need it fixed before summer!
I'm guessing there is some kind of motorised flap that regulates the air between ambient and heated, and that this flap is stuck so as to take heated air all the time. Is that right? Has anyone any experience of this, and is there a reasonable DIY fix?
Thanks for any suggestions.

I think it's the flap motor that fails a lot of the time IIRC.0

Thanks for confirming. Any idea how big a job it is? Reading Haynes, it looks like it might be possible through the glovebox without taking the whole dash out. Can anyone shed light on this?If someone is nice to you but rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person.0
