O/S Daily Friday 19th April 2019

This is is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning all

Lovely chap came yesterday and I now have my internet again.

Going to see mother this morning, have been visiting every day. She started refusing her meds, had a phone call from her care home earlier this week to say she doesn't want to eat or drink.

Good morning, and thanks SO for starting off.

It seems to be a nice morning , yesterday was lovely, but still cool. We won't get the temperatures here that are forecast for the south.

I nipped out to the shops yesterday and every where was packed!! I once read somewhere that Easter is a busier time for supermarkets than Christmas, must be true.

I don't know what we're doing today, the usual jobs I suppose. DH got our summer clothes out of the loft, I am going to go through them, hope it all still fits. I would really like DH to go through his clothes, but he shies away from the idea, must admit it maddens me - what's the problem, just look at the stuff, try on if necessary, and decide what to do with it !! Basically he's not interested in clothes, yet as a young chap he was a snappy dresser, strange. Rant now over.

Sorry to hear about your Mum SO, I don't suppose there's a lot you can do.

I'm tired after the usual rubbish night, coffee will keep me going.

Thinking of all our poorly people, and those caring for them

    Take care folks xx

    Morning all.

SO - its so difficult when that starts to happen, I'm sure the care home staff can advise you. My thoughts are with you.

The new window blind is now up in DM's room. The bloke doing it had installed the blinds originally, anyway he told me that a remote control unit can be installed on the blind so I've ordered one. DM has a dressing table in front of the window so reaching the hanging pull cord is very awkward at the best of times.

Whilst he was up the ladder he took down the net and ordinary curtains too so they have been washed. The cleaner put the net back up, the others are still drying. The curtain track began to snap, its been up over 20 years so was very brittle - so a new one ordered too!

In the afternoon my student emailed to say he was sick! He'll never pass this unit, still I can't do more.

The consultant wants DM to remain in hospital until after the holiday weekend to make sure she's much more mobile. If it means that she gets a better start this time round then I'm fine with it.

The sky is very grey outside even though the forecast is for fine weather.

My thoughts are with all those struggling with everything. I wish everyone a happy Friday.

    Morning :)

Happy good friday.....do you say that? ....they just said it on BBC news so I guess so :D

SO my sympathies for mum issues she is clearly a very unhappy person

SR I love starting back on the summer clothes its like a whole different wardrobe of surprises ...cut offs and a t shirt here ....having to keep dressing gown on for now though till it warms up :o

Yesterday I managed to get my plants potted up although I think I need a few more. I forget how wide the pots at the front are. Looks all tidy and pretty now with plants looking forward to the arrival of my summer hanging baskets in a month or so.

I have someone coming from United Utilities as my plumber found the stop !!!! at the bottom of my garden is siezed as is the one under my sink so need to get the garden one sorted then he can change my house one. Quite impressed they are coming out on a holiday day and even gave me an hour slot...we shall see. Washing o with my training shoes in too so its very noisy ...fab drying day ahead seemingly

Curry last night and plenty for tonight too

Have no interest whatsoever in this holiday or even chocolate eggs but I do have interest in reduced joints of meat so after my Asda visit I have a nice piece of pork and crackling for sunday lunch which I'll probs do it as BBQ pulled pork.

Right brekky time have a lovely day whatever your plans

    Morning everyone,

I had a better night’s sleep ( sorry SR ) so I feel far more human today, my sleep pattern has been rotten this week but a combination of a couple of Nytol and a large Prosecco seem to do the trick :D
I have also moved most of my summer wardrobe over from the spare cupboard and have sorted through, one of my favourite things to do as it’s like shopping without spending any money.
I will mostly be out in the garden today although am tempted to give Lu her first bath of the year, she was very sleepy when I rode her yesterday, down to the large swing in temperature am sure.

Hugs to SO, thoughts are with Holly, Polly and all our poorlies.

Have a good day and take care folks x

The care home is very good. We had a meeting a few months ago to discuss an end of life care plan, they have asked if I want to add or change anything

Wow SO, 103? Hugs to you, it must be very difficult.
That blind sounds amazing Gers, I like the idea of a remote control! Hope your DM continues to improve.

I really must look at my summer clothes, I'm running out of lightweight jumpers and was a little warm at work yesterday! It was lovely and warm yesterday but not much sunshine, looks a bit better today.

The bedding is on the line, going to round up the towels when I've had a shower, still in my dressing gown at the moment but it's a holiday so it's allowed!

Housework to do today and a bit of sewing, I'll make a visit to the allotment later too.

    Happy Friday, take care. XX

Morning all! Somehow, someone managed to cancel my transport home yesterday so I was going to be stuck there till six but luckily, transport had still been arranged for the other two people I went with so I did sad eyes at the counter and got myself on theirs. One of he people said patient transport was terrible, but honestly, if that's the worst thing to happen, I'm still grateful.
Got some cool packs for my chest, it's starting to look like a bad case of sunburn now, my muscles are hurting and I forgot to ask if I was allowed in the sun..I'm also exhausted when I get home but I'm not sure if it's the length of time in the hospital or the radio or a bit of both. I slept in the transport on the way home, and the sofa for a few hours when I got back and then slept all night too.
Bright and breezy this morning so far though.
Plans for today include arm waving and head shaking and pointing at OH when he puts the mini terracing for my plants in. Also do the jigsaw. Made a bit of a mistake there, shouldn't have told OH about it, he loves them too, so I relented and said we'll do it together..

Blimey SO, 102! Did she gt a telegram from the Queen, is that actually a thing? I can see why she doesn't talk, she's probably seen and done it tens of times over...not an excuse though, hope the visit goes well. Nelski, ahhh...a girl after my heart [ and OK, all of this board] for your cut price meat...I didn't get to one yesterday so I shall live vicariously through your dinner...Gers, best place for her then at the moment, if she's a bit more mobile when she gets home she might keep it up. Hope you enjoy your weekend. SR, yeah, same-ish problem. It's nice when they look smart for a change, mine has to be pushed into doing it although he will change and put what I tell him on [and look better for it]. Lainey, loved the idea of shopping without spending money, must get my stuff out and shake my head sadly at it :) Holly, hope you're doing well. Wotcha MIA's
    Fantastic fiery Friday!

Yes taff, she did get her birthday card from the Queen on her 100th (not a telegram) You have to apply for it, quite a faff. You don't get another card from the Queen until you are 105, then every year I believe.
