Surely this is no worse than Brighthouse, where a £300 laptop costs over £1000. Or selling 50p tee shirts for up to £30 on the High Street. Accepting 10% of spot price in sell your gold for a pittance shops. Paying £200 for a pair of trainers.

This is symptomatic of Rip Off Britain where a pack of cigarettes costs a tenner
and a bottle of wine costs twice as much as in France.

Only stupid people pay these prices. Stupid people deserve to be fleeced imo.

I have mixed feelings about charity shops. One one hand they do a lot of good in terms of recycling but the costs are very high and very little money finds it's way to the charity. Maybe 10p in the £1.00. They also miss a lot of valuable items.

Shopping and getting conned by PPCs are different things, but I don't think 'stupid people' deserve to be fleeced or to be scammed by PPCs.

Fulfilment in life and a degree of security are hard to find these days. Consumerism fills the gap because 'stuff' is easily obtainable whereas secure homes and jobs are not. The homeless have mobile phones but sleep in doorways. The media, social media & what passes for culture train people to think no further than their next need or impulse. We live in a stupid society.

Those of us who have known slightly easier times that at least gave us more space to grow & learn look on in horror but I'm wary of labelling other people 'stupid'.
