EDF say I'm only allowed 2 free statements a year?
Swapped to EDF back at start of Feb through cheap energy club. My first direct debit came out and I waited all last month and this month for a statement. Never received one so I went onto live chat and I've been told because I swapped through cheap energy club I'm on a "budget" direct debit and I am only allowed a free statement twice a year. One at 6 months and one at 12 months?
Surely thats a load of crap. My direct debit is set at £100 a month so they seriously expect me to pay £100 a month for 6 months before I find out whether I've been massively overpaying or underpaying?
Anyone else had this issue?

Do you mean physical paper statements, or online ? I know a lot of companies restrict the number of paper statements, or charge you extra for them (cost saving I assume), but you should have access to monthly online statements.0

You should have registered on you online account.
Do it now. It will show your statements and allow you to put in your monthly readings. The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
I'm meaning online. Via the website or the App. They have said online statements are restricted to 2 per year. Which I find ridiculous. Worst bit is it's 18 month contract so still have another 16 months to put up with them or pay exit fees
It wasn't like this last time i was with them a few years ago0 -
I don't think it is related to how you switched to them, it seems to be how all of their monthly budget direct debit accounts now work. I'm on Simply Fixed Feb '21 which is also classed as budget direct debit.

I'm having the same issue. Up until autumn just gone, I'd submit a meter reading and then a few days later the app would show a revised in credit / debit amount and a bill. Since then, I've been submitting my readings every month as usual but no bill is generated. they told me the same on the online chat that I only get a bill twice a year now. I'm on their Easy Online Jun 19 tarrif0

Surely it costs nothing to generate an online statements so why your only allowed 2 "free" ones a year is beyond me0

But you won't have to wait 6 months to find out. When you take your monthly readings simply calculate how much you have spent each month based on the tariff you are on yourself, its very easy to do.
Don't just rely on them telling you how much you have used.0 -
I think this is a change that EDF have made to their systems without making anyone aware of it. As per the link posted by dave_dph, if yours is a Budget Direct Debit (same amount paid every month to spread the cost over the year, so overpay in summer, underpay in winter,) you'll now only be asked for two meter readings per year, and sent two statements per year.
I've been with EDF for the past year paying DD (it does state Budget Direct Debit on the bill, but I wasn't aware there was any other way to pay other than a quarterly DD). And up to Dec 2018 I had a new bill/statement available online each month after I submitted meter readings. I still got the bill in Jan 2019, but it took over a week to appear, and its the last bill I've had from them despite submitting two further readings.
Now there is also info on paying Direct Debit Whole Amount (Monthly), which starts off working out the same as the Budget Direct Debit, you'll have a set monthly amount to pay, but you will be asked to submit readings monthly and they'll issue a bill that may alter your monthly DD payment depending on your usage. If you don't send them a reading, you'll just pay the set DD amount.
In which case, I'm glad to be leaving EDF and I hope my new supplier works the same way EDF used to and will regularly issue a new statement based on my readings, instead of just doing it twice a year.0 -
The 12 monthly statements are periodic statements which you will receive regardless.
However, if you provide a meter reading in the meantime, you should also get an interim statementBudget Direct Debit
This means you pay a set amount each month by Direct Debit. You could receive two types of bill from us if you're on this payment method: Periodic and interim.
Periodic - we send this at the end of your annual billing period.
Interim - we send this when we receive a meter reading from you at any point during the year.
