Redundancy before/after Liquidation

    I'm not familiar with the term but does that just mean he accepts my payoff? and the settlement agreement protects me from him at some point in the future>
    TBH I'm more concerned about protecting him or me from HMRC or anyone else in the event I retake him on as self employed or partially employed on a reduced hours/zero hours contract.

    I would look to end the employment now (sooner rather than later). Not being harsh but it comes across a bit carrot and stick (offer of work but also certain redundancy). Their circumstances might be that they need a full time position to support them and their dependents (assuming there are some) and may not need a lack of certainty in their life.

    You sound very caring and are looking to try and do the right thing Roxy48, but in this case for your employee, I think a clean break is needed. It might be that you could find someone who is happy to work on an ad hoc basis short term to complete your skill set.

    As I'm writing elsewhere, I just thought I would give an update.  I made the employee (who had no dependents) redundant JUne 2019.

    He did a couple of months with me as self employed but I then lost another contract. 

    I then then gave him about 6 weeks work 3x a year, but he eventually got fed up when outside elements affected when this was. 

    It worked out well as possible for the 2 of us and thanks for your help and good luck wishes.
