Yes, the problem was Windoze 10 slowing everything down though more noticeable in Chrome, I removed all the junk Microsoft decided I should have because, hey lm incapable of downloading my own apps that I actually do want, the laptop works much better now the crap has been removed, still a bit of a pain getting it to wake up sometimes and more often than not needs a couple of restarts during the day.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

My laptop dates from 2011, was updated to Windows 10, has no issues waking up (from sleep or hibernation) and I haven't had a need to restart it for the last nine days either.0 -

Well all I can say is that I have 2 laptops with the same symptoms and my previous Windows 10 Laptop was also a bit of a pain from the moment It updated to Windows 10 from 8. I have 2 Toshiba Laptops from 2012 runn8ng Windows 7 and neither of these machine suffer any laggy issues.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
Chrome is better than all browsers
As long as you don't value your privacy because Chrome comes bottom of the list in this respect. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Why do you make yourself look an idiot by using that tired old meme for Windows? If it was purely down to MS deliberately slowing down Chrome then why is it also slower on my Macbook Pro on OSX Mojave and Thinkpad running Linux Mint 19.1?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Given the fact that removing all the rubbish, irrelevant apps pretty much cured the problem I’d say Windows was the problem and you come over as a complete @rse when you Call people idiots onlineI hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

If you don't want to be called an idiot then don't post like one. Removing those apps Windows Update installs wouldn't make a difference because they're not ones that sit there running in the background so the most they do is sit there taking up hard drive space. Most likely when you uninstalled them you or the OS did a defrag afterwards and it was that which made the difference, either that or the hard drive was so full that the swapfile couldn't grow enough to meet the needs of the OS.This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
