Best bank and account type?

I currently have 20k sitting in a Santander ISA and it isn't giving me a great return. I think it's only 0.8%. I've banked with A&L/Santander since 1988 and I've been reluctant to move banksin the past. But now my mortgage is paid off, I have no credit cards or personal loans, so there's no reason to keep using the. So first I need to get my savings into a better account. I just don't know which bank and account is the best at the minute.

Do you have a Santander current account? If so, which one?0

0.8%
What are your plans for the ISA Money? If you don't need it for several years, one obvious move would be to have the ISA transferred to a 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5-year ISA. You can also do partial transfers of old ISA money. Always use the ISA transfer from of the receiving provider, don't move the money yourself.0 -

See above - you can get better than 0.8%!0 -

I'll be honest, I don't even know what the "tax" rates on the table even mean. I am totally ignorant of anything to do with savings, interest rates etc.
I am one of those poor saps who just sauntered along with their account for x amount of years, paying them thousands of pounds in disgraceful "charges" (which were really fines) when they deliberately put me into the red if the money to cover direct debits wasn't in my account at midnight to cover them, even if I deposited the money when they opened their doors for business the same day. Now I've paid my mortgage, loans and credit cards off, I'm in the position to start looking after my money, and taking all my business off them may not account for much in the greater scheme of things, but it'll make me happy knowing they will never make another penny off my back.0
