Not sure if this is in the right place so apologies if it's not.

It seems that everywhere I look there a poor reviews of couriers either failing to deliver items or telling you it will be delivered sometime between 7am and 7pm or similar.

I write this as I've once again taken a day off work to wait for a delivery that hasn't turned up. Contacting the courier got me "it's out for delivery today, we can't tell you any more than that" and contacting the retailer I got the same response.

I've had this many times before and even had "we tried to deliver but you weren't in" messages when I've been sat at home all day!

From what I read online, this is a regular even 'normal' occupancy with many different couriers. So my question is this: what rights do we have against this kind of behaviour? Probably none?
When will couriers have to start taking responsibility for this sort of behaviour?

Or am I just being a grumpy pillok?

Your recourse is not to buy from companies who use a dodgy courier.

I told one company I would not be ordering again as the courier they used was not reliable for delivery to our area. They replied that they could use another named courier but I would have to order by phone and ask for that courier.

Ordering online automatically went to the other courier.

You could also ask for am item to be sent by Roy al Mail or Parcel Force. We have done that when it was cheaper and our mail delivery is very reliable.

If enough people complain to the company they will consider changing who they use.
John Lewis did that for deliveries to our area after so many complaints of parcels going missing.

If the company don't care than why buy from them?
