    Sounds like conflict of interest.

There is very little point chasing anyone at this stage and there is no point in buyers/sellers asking each other about exchange dates. It is the solicitors who are able to assess readiness and agree dates.

Woah. I would not be happy with that at all. Whose idea was it that you use this firm of solicitors?

It's still far to early in the process to be thinking about completion dates.

    Tell that to your buyer.

Vendors and sellers alike can request dates for completion that might suit them, but the reality is it will be when all the chain falls into place, all the searches are done and all the outstanding queries are answered.

don't be pressurised into making that decision at this early stage.

You are just a cog in a wheel and whilst you play a part in the whole thing your portion of the purchase is what you are interested in and that will be completed when you are ready.

I had pushy vendors for my last purchase, they never managed to wavier me from the date my solicitor was working towards.

That's far too cosy. Is the same firm also acting for him?

The head solicitor (your vendor) should absolutely not be keeping an eye on your purchase. That is unethical and you should change solicitors. He presumably will be using his firm as well.

I think your reply should be ‘we will try and work to that date’. That’s all you can do.
