    Hi Guys!

OH got a 600g boneless shoulder of lamb reduced to £1 and we're not fully sure how the best way to cook it will be???

Can anyone help us please? Aiming to have dinner for 5.30, so if it needs to be slow cooked, he will need to get in ASAP.

We're having a roast dinner. Pots, parsnips and carrots have been peeled.

    Thanks

    PP

    Hi PP :hello:

I'm not one for cooking big joints of meat, so I looked up a thread for you - Lamb shoulder

Also, here's how Pink Winged does it

Hope that helps. I'll merge your thread later:)

    thanks

    Slow roast it.

Put in a roasting tin ..with a few herbs and a couple of cloves of garlic ....add a glass of white wine (optional). Put in a very hot oven for about 30mins then cover with foil and turn oven down to about 150C and leave for as long as you can ....for a small piece like that 2.5 to 3 hours should do. Meat should be meltingly tender.

sOUNDS YUMMY, WHAT A BARGAIN, LUCKY YOU.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.

    :hello:

I don't know why, but I've got a real hankering for lamb at the moment. However, it's one meat that I have never bought.

I don't know exactly what I want to cook yet either. I like the idea of some sort of stew / casserole that I could do in the slow cooker. I love a roasted lamb shank. I like a nice lamb madras. Chops I've always found a bit disappointing because there's not much meat on them.

So, I'm after a bit of help please. Firstly, what's the best (i.e. tastiest) bit of the lamb to buy? What's the most value-for-money cut?

And then what are your favourite lamb recipes?

    Cheers,
    MBE

Gosh hello Mr Bad Example - I haven't seen you on here for ages! I hope you're well! I like homemade kebabs similar to the takeaway. Get some Te$co value lamb mutton mince, mix with loads of salt, pepper, garlic, worcester sauce.
Form into small balls and pop in a 140 degree-ish oven to cook slowly on a flat baking tray. In the meantime, cut up onion, tomato, whire or/and red cabbage, lettuce if you want it. Grated carrot and lettuce. Get kebab balls out of oven, lightly grill pitta bread and cut open. Stuff salad in pitta, top with lamb balls, then drizzle the oil off the pan into the pitta with mint sauce, lemon juice and a dollop of greek yoghurt. Top off with another dollop of tomato sauce with a little bit of chilli powder mixed in it. Or use a shop-bought one.....
Hope you enjoy. It tastes like my local takeaway kebab and at a fraction of the price.
    Take care

 Well, that would give me the opportunity to use my new Kenwood :D but it's not quite what I'm looking for this time. I will stash the recipe away for future use (rugby days, probably ;) ).

I think that I'm after a roast, with rosemary, a casserole with winter veg, or curry. Something along those lines, anyway.
