If you still want to cook lamb curry at some point the lamb Rogan Josh from Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food book is fabulous.
The recipe is amazing! I;ve never made it with lamb though - quorn chicken, or veg and chickpeas

i can't imagine what a lamb curry tastes like, i don't ever really eat lamb :)

No wonder I couldn't find my thread - I've been merged again. :(

Triffic. I don't know why I bother. Have fun trying to link this one Rikki.

Tut tut - Mr BE - anyone starting a thread on lamb shoulder would get merged. Them's the rules:)

I'm surprised at you for huffing though!

It was i who merged it.

Apologies if I am speaking out of turn as it were, but perhaps you could have merged it after the master class had ended?

I picked up a rolled shoulder today half price :money: from MrS but have never cooked one before!

Is it best roasted or done in the SC? It needs to be cooked tomorrow or frozen tonight... I have all the usual storecupboard herbs, spices etc etc

Anybody got any scrummy ideas of what to do with it please?

    TY :)

shoulder of lamb - jeez, its years since i used shoulder for anything other than casserole (cubed) but when I first got married my MIL gave me a recipe for shoulder of lamb.
If I remember rightly it involved unrolling it - spreading with mint sauce (not the jar one but homemade) then rolling it back up and tieing it and slow roasting it for about two or three hours in a low oven. It was delish but quite fatty (which is why I dont do it now).

It can be roasted, but personally I find with boned shoulder there tend to be lots of unpleasant chewy bits, which you'd normally miss if carving around a bone.

I think I'd probably go for the slow cooker.

A local farmer is selling butchered lambs, £70 for a half lamb - i'd be very tempted if i had space in my freezer.

I love shoulder of lamb and when I finish my diet it's one of the treats I've promised myself.

Personally I would unroll it, spread with a stuffing mix of your choice, then roll it up again and roast slowly with all the trimmings (roasties, parsnips, gravy....I must be hungry). Personally I use just a simple stuffing mix breadcrumbs with thyme, butter and seasoning or if I'm being quick (and lazy) then just a packet mix.
