O/S Daily Wednesday 17th April 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.
Dry but cloudy start to the day, supposed to be warming up from today. I have a wash load to peg out.
Dinner last night was a new dish of jacket potatoes stuffed with pepperoni topped with tomato sauce and cheese - I enjoyed but the menfolk not overly keen. Probably won't be made again. Remembered to get sausages out to defrost but they haven't quite defrosted so hopefully they will have by tonight.
Yesterday work again was either manic or dead, so we'll see what today brings.
My last work day today then I'm off until next Tuesday, so looking forward to a bit of a break.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, enjoy your days off.
The sunshine seems to have left us, it has actually rained a little overnight but not enough to make a difference to the garden. Hoping the cold wind has blown away.
Work was really busy yesterday but the day just flew by, another busy day calls but hopefully I'll get it all done before tomorrow as we have a long weekend off for Easter and I like a clear desk!
I put a big white wash on last night but it can stay indoors for now, if it's nice when I get home it can go out for an hour to freshen up.
DD had her 20 week scan yesterday, can't believe the detail in the scan photo, it's amazing. They have chosen not to know the sex of the baby, I'm glad as it won't make any difference and a surprise is nice.
Hope you all have a good day and Gers' DM continues to improve. Good to see you AOD. Take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Thanks for starting us off nmlc.
The haircut is OK - just OK. It's a bit up and down as DM was sitting in a big chair so I couldn't get to the back easily. As for the sides... let's just say that she looks less like a witch now!
More visiting today. DM has asked for a couple of specific foods to eat which is a good sign. I may have cracked the 'getting to the hospital on the bus' problem even though it's two buses and a walk! Taxis were costing a fortune.
I bought some lovely fresh lambs liver yesterday and then succumbed to a takeaway on the way home! :rotfl: Just CBA'd after a long day.
I hope that everyone is doing well, especially all out MIA folk.
Happy Wednesday to all.0 -
Good morning, and thanks for starting off NMLC.
It's grey here, I hope it brightens up a bit. Mind, it doesn't seem as cold.
Your baked potato dish sounds nice NMLC - I've got a similar recipe, think I'll try it.
Yesterday was ok, I've started the wedding card for my great niece, hope it works out. I'm being very careful with measuring and placement, I want this to be really nice.
We are planning to go to A*nwick Gardens today to see the cherry blossom, they have a large cherry orchard and it's lovely when in bloom, somehow bridal I think, walking under all those pure white flowers.
That's it for today - thinking of the poorly people, and those struggling with life.
Glad to see AOD back, and hoping TA is all right.
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning all
Looks to be a nice day here off to work for me and I think its bouncy castles again today so will might have a bounce on my way out tonight !!
DD picked up a courtesy car yesterday so I no longer have to drop her at the station in the morning, mind you it was costing her £12 per day for a 15 min journey  and they wonder why more people don't use public transport !! This borrowed car of hers is a brand new one and even parks itself !!!
We have the truffle pasta again tonight with some salad and dough balls, its such a lovely simple meal.
Only one more getty up before a long weekend which I am very much looking forward to !!
Have good days all xx0 -
Good morning all
Thank you for starting us off nmlc
Internet still playing up, have contacted provider, they say they will check the lines.
OL my daughter would have been 42 this year (December), as you say the love is always there hugsIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
Thoughts are with you today Silver-Oldie x0

Good morning everyone,
Thanks again for your own personal tales of courting. I really appreciate it and they're lovely to read.
Standard day for me yesterday. Finished work (late) then home to make a light dinner whilst on the phone to my Mum. Then had a boxing class at 8.30 which I was dreading purely because of how knackered I was last week. I forced myself to go as you only get out what you put in, so I took it as a good sign. Home > showered > collapsed into bed.
I have yoga this afternoon on my lunch break for an hour then I'll swing by the gym after work for a run or weights before heading home to probably sit on the couch for a bit. Although I do need to give the place a once over with the hoover but when is the deadline for hoovering in a flat? Is 8pm too late?
Got a text from my old boss, who has moved to a new job himself, asking if I'm interested in a job with him back in Glasgow. I said the chances are it's too soon but if the money is crazy then it's something to consider. Nothing set in stone at his end yet and he wanted to gauge the interest before asking the CEO for funds. We'll see, but I'm not holding my breath. Nice of him to ask though.
NSD # 7 yesterday
Gers - I applaud the effort though.
Scarlet - Even I like the cherry blossoms, I totally get your appreciation for them0 -
Morning all! It was really warm last night when the sun went down, it was just like a summer evening in Italy. I think the plants appreciated it too. I'm not sure that we aren't going to have another scorcher this year. Hope so, I've got far too many tomato plants for the greenhouse even after I ruthlessly threw out a lot of seedlings.[yeah, ok, and sowed some more...eek!]
Lovely neighbour brought round more food yesterday and I took her some flowers beforehand to say thank you.
Cat owner came round to find her cat, yes, it was here, we'd just had sandwiches and he wandered in thinking he might get some [he didn't], so I did ask if he was coming home to her because I've seen him going to a different house behind us...she is understandably upset with him....
Radio today and tomorrow, friday off this week because of easter but still in saturday and sunday. I wish my previous get up and go would come back, I just think about doing things instead of doing them...
I failed in my attempt to not buy anything on the internet, I frogt I'd bid on another puzzle on ebay...turned out I won it with no extra effort on my part...oops...
OL and SO, hugs for you both. TA, hope you're enjoying the change of scenery. Speky, you go girl!! Being headhunted!! woop woop!! SR, how did the tai chi go? AOD, nice to see you, online shopping for easter eggs and hone your concentration and keep resisting...Gers, you did well young paduan....camelot, good news then! snoozer, glad you're enjoying yourselves! dumpling, are you keeping up with nurses and stuff? hope you had a better sleep. Nelski, are you having fun today? Hope so. nanny, the easter egg hunt sounds lovely, they'll remember that.
Yo Holly! Congratulations and commiserations in whatever measure is most appropriate! Wotcha MIA's

Morning all,
Sunny and mild here today....got wet feet when I went across the lawn to get some rhubarb (fancied some stewed on porridge) .I think that we need to replace rhubarb as it seems to be coming up very thin.....if I buy it now it will have a chance to settle in this year for use next year.
What is wrong with this thread at present? I know that I am not always here but it seems as if almost everybody else is MIA...come back you lot, all is forgiven!!!
Of to my knitting in a minute, leaving OH and Mossy to mind each other.
Back later.

Morning all
It's dry and still quite cold but the sun is trying to come out to play.
I've got my nurses hat today as Mr Fix It has worsened overnight and he now gets dizzy even when sitting/ standing. So I have put my foot down, I've banned his computer and he's going to do nothing today.
I still have to finish the prize wrapping as I was disturbed yesterday, Dad called in with some hot cross buns. Nice thought but I hate them, always have as I can't stand the smell of cinnamon, let alone the taste. Dad took most of them home but left a couple for Mr Fix It, which I had to double bag _pale_
I still have to sort out the shopping list too, may give that job to Mr Fix It and he can talk to "Alexa" she can put the list on his phone. He won't even have to move out of his chair for that. ( I'm hoping he'll be able to drive to Morries tomorrow, it's not far but we'll see. I may have to ask Dad or DD to step in )
Dad is back for tea today and we will have fish and chips with mushy peas, Mr Fix It will have a breaded chicken steak. I think I'll do proper chips in oil ......... oh such naughtiness :rotfl: but I'll have to use the wok as I threw out the chip pan years ago.
taff jigsaws are theraputic and so are allowed. Look after yourself during your treatment and put your feet up as and when necessary.
Nelski hope you are ok and just busy.:A
TA I hope you had a lovely time at the van. I'm sure Bob would be cheering you on :A
Gers I wish I lived nearer as I would have done DM's hair. I cut Dad's and give Mr Fix It a trim, a beard trim and a polish on top. They say the only difference between a good haircut and a bad one.....is 2 weeks:rotfl:.
Silveroldie hugs for you today.
ScarlettR I'm sure the card will be fab and full of love. Enjoy the blossoms.
Camelot 20 weeks already  Won't be long before the DGC is here :T.
Speky you lead such a busy life! You make me exhausted just by reading your posts, but then that's as near to any exercise I will get .
:j to those who are on a last day of work.:j
Thinking of the poorly people.
Hugs to all
