Warranty replacement: should I pay the return postage?

I returned a router to the manufacturer for a replacement under the warranty. They requested me to return the faulty router back to them by a trackable service and on my own expense.
Is this right? I always thought that the faulty items should be replaced/repaired with no cost to the consumer. Does Consumer Act say anything on this?
The warranty is for three years and I am half way through.
Thanks.

Warranty's are in addition to your statutory rights and offered (normally by the manufacturer), therefore they are quite within their rights to ask you to pay postage costs (both ways if they wanted). If you wanted it repaired completely free of charge you would need to take it back to who you purchased it from and use the SOGA, which basically means convincing them or a judge if it went to court, that the item is not fit for purpose - but to be honest on a router you might have trouble doing this after 18months.
So basically yes they (the manufacturer) can charge - it would be the store you purchased it from who could not charge you.0
