Are Geraniums Slug Proof?
Comments

Yes, Isn't there one call Johnson's Blue? Don't think you'll have a problem with slugs.0
-
Johnson's Blue is not a bedding plant.0

Just as an example:

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
It isn't what I'd call a bedding plant either, OP asked for a blue geranium, Johnson's blue is a geranium.0

People ask about 'geraniums' when they really mean 'pelargoniums
In one sense it may not matter , since both types of plant are pretty slug proof, but regrettably there are no blue pelargoniums for bedding/container use.0 -

Sense as usual from Dave.
Thinking about it a bed of geraniums, not pelargoniums, would look lovely, both for humans and bees, plus once in never need to bother again
Of course if you like rows of soldiers as bedding this may not suitNumerus non sum0 -
Well in previous years the slugs have a picnic on my geraniums0

Not quite. I have a bed of geranium macrorrhizums that have gone very leggy and allowed a few weeds in, but they have been there almost 10 years. I shall have to re-plant them....sometime.Thinking about it a bed of geraniums, not pelargoniums, would look lovely, both for humans and bees, plus once in never need to bother again
The ultimate no-work geraniums are phaeums in the grass outside our kitchen window. They come out around now, keep the bees busy, then the greenfinches come along and eat the seeds in high summer . After that, I take the brushcutter to them and they spring up and do it all again.
Problem is, with the decline in greenfinches caused by a disease, there haven't been so many takers for the seeds in recent years.
