Email from QDR Solicitors

I've just received an email, to my old email address, from the above company asking me to contact the. After doing a bit of digging it looks like it may be in relation to a parking charge and was wondering if anyone can give me advice on the best course of action.

I visited a cash & carry in Glasgow around November and used their car park. I have noticed signs in the car park in the past but never thought much of it. We spent over an hour in the building buying for our business and for Christmas etc., finished what we were doing, went home and thought nothing more of it.

Arround Christmas I was greeted by a letter from a private company telling me that I'd been issued with a fine after spending something like 15 minutes over the allowed time in the car park. I admit that I ranted and raved a bit, ripped it up and stupidly thought no more about it. I've since had another which has been closely followed by this email.

Given that I was buying business materials I should still have the receipt with the time we went through the check out to prove that I was in the shop all the time so should I appeal it or is it too late? Should I contact them or wait until they write? Any advice will be gratefully received. Many thanks

Especially if you’re also based in Scotland then you just ignore this. The Protection of Freedoms Act 2012 (Schedule 4) which, in England and Wales, provides PPCs the opportunity to pass liability for parking charges from the driver to the registered keeper, does not apply in Scotland.

So if they don’t know who to driver was (and if you ignore any urge to communicate with them, you can’t tell them), then they’re whistling in the wind.

    Ignore them.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Do not contact the down market dirty shirts, but do complain to your MP, they are in the process of shutting these scams down.

On 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these private parking companies. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, and persistent offenders denied access. Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers.

Until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

As above ...... QDR are a cheapo legal set up by the disgraced Wright Hassall solicitors ..... that's another story

But in Scotland ??? QDR are just taking the p*ss

QDR has a long way to go before they are classed as professionals

Certainly ignore this PCN as you are in Scotland, but which PPC issued the PCN?

Have you tried the SIMPLE first step of always complaining to the Retail Manager?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
