Honeymoon dreams vs reality!

Why don't you opt for a UK mini moon and save for another year so when it comes round to your 1st anniversary you'll have a better budget and a really special destination to go to...
Look at it that you are not concluding the wedding celebrations with the honeymoon straight after the wedding.
by having a smaller minimoon you could still hop on a plane and go somewhere if that's what your OH really wants...or you could find somewhere like a country lodge in the uk with a hot tub for a few days
Mexico is lovely and has a really good climate whatever time of year.in S 38 T 2 F 50

If you have to get deeper in debt because she says so then Gran Canaria is a good option.0

Based on your budget and criteria, I would say that Maspalomas on the Canary Island of Gran Canaria might be your best bet.
Budget flights from Luton/Stansted and a seperate AI booked hotel might be acheivable in your budget (personally I would compromise on the AI part if above budget, but that's absoluitely your choice).
Maspalomas is a known LGBT destination (they hold the annual Canary Island Pride in the autumn).
Hope that helps somewhat.0 -
I can't believe you'd struggle to get an AI beach holiday somewhere like the Canaries for that budget. We've been on 2 AI holidays in the Canaries in the last 15 months for around £400 each, in the school holidays.
It's not worth travelling any further for just a week IMO, particularly somewhere with a big time difference as it'll take a while to adjust going and more importantly coming back if you're going straight back to work.0 -
February rules out the Med, too cold. You only have a week so that rules out long haul. As other have said research the Canary Islands, 4 hrs from Luton/Stansted/Gatwick. You may need to be more flexible on your dates though.0

Should be perfectly feasible to fly out to the Canaries the day after the wedding on the Sunday, and come back the Sunday afterwards. Although you may be getting back into the UK quite late and if you are a teacher you may be rather grumpy at work the next day.
Forget flying out of Heathrow though for the Canaries, will be a Gatwick/Luton/Stansted job. As an example, Jet2 fly to all four main Canary Islands on Sundays in February from Stansted, not difficult to go to their website and have a look. Cant help you any more as I dont know what week half term is in your area, but if its the 16th Feb you can fly out on then you can do a week in GC for just over half your budget so God knows why you are struggling to find something.0 -
The Canaries are not going to be hot in February, it will be around 18-20c so about the same as yesterday if you're in the southeast. Not really beach weather but ideal for mooching, if you want a beach holiday you're going to have to go further or go later.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Ive been in GC over Xmas and its been scorching. Also been almost every year in the last 5 in October/November half term and had no issues other than the occasional thunderstorm. As already said, at that time of year mega hot = long haul which isnt feasible in a week and certainly isnt if the OP has to be back in work at 8am Monday morning the week afterwards.
The temperature for GC is usually given from the capital which, oddly enough, is cooler than the south of the island and gets more cloud. I remember one year getting there in October at the airport and it was absolutely tipping it down. Drove 2 miles down the island in the coach and it was glorious sunshine and a cloud free sky. The Canary Islands have their peak season in the winter months. We go in November, and it is hot most days. We have been to Mexico but the weather in Tenerife was just as good to be honest, so it’s a great area to go if time is limited to a week.0

BA have good direct flights on Sunday from Heathrow to Gran Canaria LPA.
Check both the BA and Iberia Websites for a flight and hotel deal to Maspalomas or Meloneras.
Las Palmas on Gran Canaria has a carnival in February, not sure of the dates though.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0
