Possibly by checking you credit report with various agencies. Experian tells me I opened my current account in 1970 'tho it has been running a lot longer than that.

Credit card companies can find out how long you have had a particular bank account by checking your file with a credit reference agency such as Equifax or Experian. It may also be possible for banks to check directly with each other.0

It could be that LTSB & Abbey use a different credit reference agency. There are 3 main CRAs & most financial institutions use 2 out of 3 but there are some who only use 1. I have seen a list of who uses which CRA on this website but it was a while ago. Maybe someone knows how to find it?0 -
Here you go, the link from Moneysavingexpert about which bank uses which CRA.

If you have obtained your credit report from Equifax or Call Credit then Abbey won't show up as they only use Experian. LTSB use all 3 credit reference agencies so your details will appear on reports from all of these companies.
Thanks to Taless for the CRA link.0
