Hi all
after a little advice from the more knowledgeable on this site please.
My laptop wasn't charging, so I put it in for a dc Jack replacement / repair, now it turns out there is a problem with the motherboard (which basically means that the charge is not making it to the battery.
During discussion with the repairer I have decided to get a new laptop (as it's not financially viable to repair the current one) pulling the hd drive and taking the info off it (Have most of it backed up to various devices including various cloud sites, usb sticks and a 6TB external drive).
My question is what are the best laptops I should be looking at:
Budget circa £400
Processor should be an i5 ideally
Current machine is an ASUS if that makes any difference
Have written this on my phone (as such it's not great to search on) otherwise I would have done the searching myself
TIA

Sometimes I wonder...
"why is that frisbee getting bigger?"
...and then it hits me

What do you use if for?
Having said that, get at least 8 GB RAM and a SSD of at least 256 GB.
You don't need HDD storage if you've a decent internet connection and cloud storage and/or NAS."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -

It is used mainly for converting files, general browsing and using MS Office files (mostly word and excel) in all honesty.
Would I be better off looking at Notebooks (are they powerful enough to handle file converting)?
TIA
