How do I find out what pensions I've paid into

Okay, so I'm 41 and over my working life I've had around 28 different jobs  I have no idea which ones I paid into a pension withas my younger days I never gave saving for the future a thought.

Is there any way to find out how many pensions I've paid into?

If you have not moved house then chances are there are none. Its when people move house and fail to notify the pension provider of the change of address that things tend to get temporarily lost.

There is the Govt pension tracing service

  • Make a list of the companies that you have worked for then use the pension tracing service as a starting point. https://www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details

Have a look through any old statements you have. Bear in mind some providers will have been taken over by others over the years.
Not an expert, but like pensions, tax questions and giving guidance. There is no substitute for tailored financial advice.

It is worth having a look at all your payslips to see if there is any pension contribution deducted as well. Have you already been auto-enrolled by your current employer?

I haven't kept any old statements or payslips. Only ones I have are for the last 5 years with my current employer.

I signed up for the pensions with my two current employers...just wondering if I have different ones from different employers whether I can combine them somehow.

Have you obtained a new state pension forecast?

    https://www.gov.uk/check-state-pension

A COPE will indicate a contracted out pension scheme.

First find out what if anything you've got - follow the advice above on how to do that.
