Wireless and Vista...

I've had many (more than 20) problems with getting Vista to go wireless.
After thumping my head against wall more than once, I've reached the fairly obvious conclusion that IPV6 or whatever it's called (tcp/ip v6) doesn't work with a huge number of routers or wireless adaptors.
My best advice is unclick it in the network connection properties and forget it even exists. Use v4.
Wonder what happened to v5?

Very few IPv6 devices are available, it's in there for future compatibility. Having said that I have had no problems with Vista and wireless even though I have it ticked. Did you have IPv6 ticked and IPv4 unticked? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

Vista won't work with WPA1 encryption on some routers.
Use WEP.
Also, I found that for my 3com router, I had to use the HEX value, rather than a 5/10 character string.0 -

So what exactly are you saying, use WEP or use HEX? Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
on some linksys routers you have to disable the wireless security for vista to work with it!
