Is it worth planting out my dwarf cherries?

I have two dwarf or patio cherry trees which have been in containers which are probably too small for about five years. They are supposed to bear fruit but have never looked like it.
I could plant them directly into soil this year - does the forum think it's worth it? I'm happy if they decide to become full sized cherries as long as they fruit but how likely is it?
Thanks in advance.

The final size of top fruit trees is defined by the rootstock they are grafted on to - a dwarfing rootstock will never turn into a large tree.
They may grow bigger than they would in pots but won't get huge.
Regarding the lack of fruit, do you get flowers?0 -
Thanks, that's a good point - I can't remember but I think they are dwarf rootstock.
There are always a few flowers but not many.0 -
I'd go for it, most trees do better in open ground, plus no need for all the watering / feeding
If you do plant out remember this year, because of restricted ex pot root run, they will need regular watering despite being in the ground
If you do find them galloping skywards think about training / pruning before you need aircraft hazard lights on them:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
