Hi.
I contacted vanquis about reclaiming ppi, I had a reply with a cheque for £41 and a letter saying as I'm aware the account was sold to a debt recovery company. Now can I do anything about the fact that if I knew I had payment protection insurance I would have used it rather than let it go to debt collection?

Your PPI was listed on every single statement as a separate charge as well as either listed on the paperwork you signed to get the card or details given to you over the phone when you took it out. That you forgot you had it is not a failure on their part.
