What would happen if I had two BT Master Sockets on the same line?

I have to replace a socket and only have a master socket.

Would the line still work?

You can't have two "Masters" as such, there has to be a cut off point where BT's responsibilities end and the homeowner's start. That is the master socket where the line comes in from the telegraph pole or underground or wherever.

Do not tamper with the master socket (or at least do not do anything with regards to the top half of the box) because if you make it worse and BT have to come out it will be chargeable.

You can get the extension ports that you wire into the back of the master socket, which may be easier if you need a new socket.

For the avoidance of doubt , you can have as many sockets as you like but only one will be the master socket, ie, the one where the BT line enters your premises.

Go buy an extension socket, they cost a trivial amount.
