O/S Daily Sunday 14th April

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Good morning all

    Feels quite chilly this morning.

I was hoping to plant some more seeds today, but not sure if it's too early / cold, maybe wait.

Hope you are enjoying your 'break' GERS and your DM continues to improve

Special thoughts with Holly, Poppy, taff, Ger's DM, LameWolf and Mr Wolf, and all those finding life difficult

Morning!! Up super early to be ready for also super early [for me] appointment today.
While I was waiting yesterday I was in a different area and they had a Terry Pratchett puzzle out on the table, so, I stayed behind a bit to have a go at that. I enjoyed it so much that I bought one on ebay so that should keep me quiet for a few days.
Looks like today is going to be sunny once the misty stuff burns off.
Second cup of coffee will be on it's way as soon as I put the percolator on.
Spent some time yesterday watching youtube gardening videos, hae some new ideas for raised beds, like properly raised beds, colourbond galvanised tanks, they look pretty good, but also have sewer pipes, you know the big concrete ones, in mind too...thinking ahead to not being able to bend down....
I also [sorry Nelski!!] picked up some velvet curtains from Freecycle yesterday, they will need dyeing, but they'll be excellent for the bay windows come winter. I was thinking of red or orange with dip dyed black on the bottom....Haven't told the OH yet, they're hiding in my car....
What you sowing SO? Gers, hope home is where the heart is, and your mam keeps improving. AOD, mre hugs. Hope everyone is sort of OK...Yo Holly! Wotcha people who are MIA...
    Sassy Sunday!

Thought I would sow carrots, beetroot, spinach, rocket etc, seed I put straight into the soil as opposed to starting them off in pots and then planting out later.

I totally forgot about those! They should be ok though, rocket will anyway, that stuff is like the bindweed of the salad family....Thanks for reminding me [ brain farts all over the place lately] I'll get my seed box out tomorrow...
Still no chillies coming up, but a few more different toms have. I got some baby plums from the SM a few weeks ago, they tasted quite nice considering they were out of season, so I put a few of them in and they're up now...Along with a few Green Velvet toms..

We're up early too - to watch the Grand Prix, then we're driving up to Yorkshire for the week. We've got friends arriving for a couple of days as well so that should be fun.

Steve's feeling better but he didn't feel up to golf yesterday so we went across to see Chris and he helped to sort out a bath tap that had stopped working properly. Chris had done a personality profile course at work, the same one Steve had done 5 years ago so Steve took his profile over and we compared them. Talk about a chip off the old block, quite a few of the profile statements were identical and very accurate for the two of them.

Crystal was out at her sister's baby shower which gave me a bit of a kick up the pants because I have a quilt to finish for another baby before I make a start on the quilt for Crystal's sister's baby.

Laura and Brian went down to Cornwall yesterday, I hope they have good weather.

    Morning All

The sun is shining yet again, could get used to this! It's still cold but at least the strong wind we had yesterday has died down - the washing wouldn't stay on the line!

Usual washing is out along with my bedroom curtains, I've never washed them before and they have been up for about 4 years, shame on me.

I had a busy day yesterday, bought and put together the bed for DGD, sent DS1 a photo and DGD phoned to say thank you which I thought was really sweet.

Also went to DDs to remove some wallpaper and tiles from the downstairs bathroom - that was harder than I thought and I broke the tool I was using, I bought a stronger thingy to have another go today.

Hope everyone's well and has a happy Sunday. Take care. XX

    Morning everyone,

Crikey, Sunday already, this week has flown by. It’s sunny here too but very cold, it’s meant to warm up for next weekend which will be good as getting fed up wearing jeans & jumpers all the time.
We have both DSS’s coming over this afternoon to watch the football and then we are going out for a meal to no cooking for me :j
Thinking of Holly, Poppy and all poorlies and those caring for them, take care of yourselves.

Have a good day folks x

    Morning :)

Lovely Sunday lie in and if I hadn't have needed tea would still be there. So cold outside of bed but determined the heating is not going back on so some cosy fleecy pjs are the other option.

Mad busy cleaning day yesterday so not much that I have to do today but I quite fancy decluttering two annoying cupboards ...the under stairs and the airing cupboard.

Yesterdays doner kebab was a real success ...plenty left so thats tonight sorted. Going to make some rocky road today ...mum loves it so it will be better than an easter egg she wont be interested in.

taff struggling to imagine orange and black curtains

Lainey good to see you hows Lu?

Are we missing TA? maybe she went to the van with her daughter

Anyway have a lovely chilled Sunday all

    Morning all

Its a lovely sunny day here but a bit nippy with a good breeze, I have stripped the beds and got them on a boil wash they should dry well today.

Roast pork for dinner today I got a nice big bit which should do us tomorrow too, so I will put it in a low oven while we are out walking, I will prep the veg and spuds this morning so will just have to cook them once back.

OH is going to mow the lawn when he is back from the boot sale and then we will pack some french bread and camembert and go off for a long walk, we pick somewhere different each week on the map and go off and explore.

Took dd's car in yesterday and the turbo was on the way out, they have told her its dangerous to drive and could 'go' completly at any time and the car would just stop and not start again !! so they have kept it, she does a lot of driving for her job so Im glad its being done, its also still inder warranty so nothing to pay thank goodness.

Right time for marmite on toast, have good days all and hugs to those who need one xx

Morning folks, and thanks for the good wishes.

By 7am I was on the road to Glasgow so am now back at DM's place briefly. I have to pick up a couple of things for her, do a little spreadsheet and then go to hospital visiting. I'll be going back to my own place afterwards as I have an audiology appointment at my local hospital tomorrow morning - I've changed it twice already so will take the chance to attend now.

The time in my own home was lovely, waking up to see the sun bouncing off the sea and the brightness of Jura is very restorative. My friends left yesterday so it was really brilliant to have some time with them.

I hope that everyone's Sunday is restful and peaceful. Happy Sunday to all.
