If you dont know what the reg of the vehicle is i don't think the DVLA can help on Monday.

Try Google earth it may show the car outside the property ?

The regs marks are blurred out.

It sounds harsh but it sounds like you are just after money, they died over a year ago and you didn't know.

You obviously don't understand families or the human condition with a comment like that. I know it sounds harsh. It's not uncommon for people to estrange themselves from their family. Her choice, definitely not ours. And when her brother died and she had no money, We paid for his funeral.

What would you do? Forget about the car and let the state keep it? Leave the house locked up for more years until the state gets the money for that too?

Easy to judge from behind a keyboard.

Thanks to all who posted advice. Will try to find out the situation next week.

I hope you will offer to repay the EA for the funeral.

The council or the NHS (depending on where she died) would have paid for a simple funeral - no-one else should have been pressurised into funding it. :(

According to the OP a local estate-agent paid for the funeral, which seems strange , to say the least.

Isn't there another thread on this topic?

There's no obvious reason why the keeper's name and address.wouldn't be enough information to trace the vehicle - assuming they did take it.

The car is over one side of the road in normal view but on street view is on the other side of the road with the number plate clearly visible.

Well that is an exception rather than the rule, house numbers faces and registration plates are blurred out.

It's very rare to find ones not blurred, the algorithm they use is so sensitive there is are examples like blurring a dog or a cow

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just be aware of the pitfalls of unwittingly dealing with a (possibly) insolvent estate. You have no idea what debts may be lurking!!

You may be best advised to walk away.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)

Thanks again for all posts and advice. Yes, there is another thread on this subject. Yes: it's complicated.

Followed the suggestions for Google Street View. It did show a very nice car outside (Jag), but unfortunately the Street View was done in 2011. This would have been approx. a year before our relative moved in. Street view actually showed the for sale sign in the window of her house.

Will persevere with the DVLA. I'm sure they will be able to find something with her full name, address and the location of where the car was removed from.
