Car Stolen - Insured but no MOT

I know I have read previous similar threads but want to make sure nothing has changed over the years.
My car was stolen last night from my home and although it was insured the MOT had expired. I got it tested a few weeks ago but it failed on a few things (only minor like brakes & bushes).
I took the car home and have not used it since whilst I was saving to get the repairs done (I have a van at work I can use anyhow).
I have read that the insurance company cannot invalidate my policy and that they will deduct an amount of around 10% from the settlement figure due to the car not having an MOT.
However I want to make sure this is correct before they come back at me trying to tell me my insurance is not valid because of no MOT (it's a new claim so they haven't come back with anything yet).
My insurance is with Swinton, which I believe is then underwritten by CIS.
Any help will be gratefully appreciated !!!

You are correct in your assertions. Doesn't mean they will not try it on though but a formal complaint at the first refusal should see it sorted.0

Have you also reported it to the police and done a SORN for it with the DVLA? (both for your protection in case it's used in a crime)
Having no MOT should mean it would get picked up by police ANPR cameras if they operate in your area.0 -
I have reported it to the Police but hadn't SORN it, was still just paying tax on it as was getting it MOT'd next week.0

A car that is stolen with a recently expired / failed MOT is one of the indicators to an Insurer for a fraudulent claim so expect them to spend a lot of time investigating0
