Hello – I’m looking for advice on buying a laptop for my nephew who is 14. He will be using it for homework, playing games, internet surfing etc. Want to pay roughly £350.00 maximum if possible. I have found these deals and wondered if someone could advise if any of them are any good or if you could maybe advise another option. Thanks very much.

I'd go for the 4th one given the choice. There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't...0
-
The 4th one out of those as it is the only dual core one there, however, EI arent the best make on the planet....
However, for just over £350.... http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4PNR&CategorySelectedId=11105&NavigationKey=11105&ExposedRefinement=110010 -
hi, just bought my son a toshiba laptop today from currys.
slightly over your budget at £399, it has pentium dual core, 2000mb ram and 80 gb hard drive. sorry no idea to do links, but google currys, its on their siteenjoy life, we only get one chance at it:)0 -
I would forget about a laptop and buy a Standard PC.
Yes it may cost a bit more but will also last a lot longer and can be upgraded.
Just my 2p.0 -
He won't be playing any modern games on a £350 laptop either. Do you know what games he wants to play?
Does he need it to be mobile? Generally you get better value with a Desktop and as BritBrat says at least then he can upgrade when finances allow.
Out of the four you listed I'd go with the fourth. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
How about http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133382
Ok so it's got a Celeron processor but it's £300 and has 1GB RAM, 80GB Hard Disk and Wireless. Fujitsu are a relatively safe make too.

Have you had a look at Dell, for comparison? Very good prices and options. Or use this site to show all the current Dell offers: http://www.dmxdimension.com/0

i'd strongly recommend Dell too. Check out the Dell Vostro 1000, though i'd recommend upgrading all of these laptops to 2Gb if you're planning on running vista.0 -
