    Don't want to hijack the thread but both me and my wife have been working since we got married 3 years ago and never claimed any benefits/ allowance etc. We both work full time and both also have part time jobs (work 8 hours over weekend). We both pay Basic Rate on the part time job. Would we be able to get marriage allowance or something?

    From what you've posted it sounds as though you would both be eligible for Marriage Allowance.

    The problem is you aren't going to benefit from it.

    Based on your post the person receiving it would save £250 tax (in the current tax year).

    The person applying would pay £250 more tax.

    So a complete waste of your time and effort.
