Hi, I’m new to this so hopefully someone can help. I originally through a second party PPI claims company was told that I was paying PPI on my current car finance that I took out in May 2017. I was very shocked as I was very vigilant to ensure I didn’t have PPI on the finance at the time because of the publicity it has as well as I didn’t need it. This claims company said I was due a refund of around £180 ( I know not big bucks ) but I persude the case myself with the online forms provided on this site. To receive a response from Arnold Clark to simply state they do not sell PPI. Should I persue this any further ?
Thanks in advance

Do you evidence you had PPI? And that it was mis sold?
Or are you just going by whatever nonsense the claims company has made up?0 -
I’m curious... how on earth would a claims company that you had not already instructed to act on your behalf know that you had a PPI refund of £180 awaiting - obviously this was merely a try it on by the claims company, don’t waste any more time on this0

I don't think you could have PPI on a loan/finance taken out in 2017.0

Did you actually check your paperwork to see if there was PPI on it?
Claims companies cold people all the time, even though they are not supposed to, but how else to con members of the public into giving them the reins of their finances and the chance to make a buck.
If someone cold calls you telling you you are owed money again, use the rule that if it sounds too good to be true, it most definitely is.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Apologies, I sent a claims company my details on a few potential PPI claims, the Arnold Clark one was the one that came back. My main concern was that this is a current financial agreement that I have until 2020 with them so didn’t want to continue paying PPI. No I couldn’t find any paperwork with PPI on it specifically. Again this added to my confusion. Thank you for your responses0

It sounds as if, in a startling turn of events, that the claims company has not been entirely truthful with you.0

PPI was banned from sale at the point of a financial sale (like a car deal) in 2010. There is zero chance you had PPI on that product unless it was sold later though realistically, car firms have moved on from PPI
Any product you had with them would likely be GAP, alloy cover, paintwork cover etc - the usual addonsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

PPI had stopped being sold within loans by 2017.This claims company said I was due a refund of around £180 ( I know not big bucks ) but I persude the case myself with the online forms provided on this site.
£180 redress doesnt sound like a PPI premium on a loan.To receive a response from Arnold Clark to simply state they do not sell PPI.
Which fits with expectation.Should I persue this any further ?
You could complain to the claims company for telling lies to you. However, there is nothing to pursue Arnold Clark for.
Claims companies routinely lie to get people to sign up to them. Their staff are on sales targets and can even lose their jobs or be humiliated for being the worst performer in the call centre.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
